De L'Oree Ermitage 1997

Date: 25 November 2006

I tried the 1996 vintage in September 2006 (see previous review). The basic structure is similar but the 1997 vintage is slightly sweeter but less rounded on the edge. It matched the sashimi perfectly.

Rating: good

Penfold's RWT 2001

Date: 25 November 2006

This was the second tasting of the RWT 2001 (see previous review October 2005). It was still very powerful and intense. Massive plum and cherry aroma, rich, luscious and rounded palate with an ultra-long and fine finish.

Rating: excellent

Amberley Shiraz 2004

Date: 24 November 2006

Amberley Estate was established in 1986 in the Margaret River region. A typical Aussie shiraz with moderate body, spicy and plum flavour and a clean finish. Not bad for a house red.

Rating: average

L'Evangile 1995

Date: 19 November 2006
Oaky nose with hint of truffle and chocolate. Concentrated, fruit laden palate with a bit of musk in the background. Clean, elegant finish.

Rating: good

La Spinetta Moscato D'Asti 2005

Date: 11 November 2006
This Italian wine was made from 100% Moscato grape and has a low alcohol content of 5.5%. It was remarkably sweet with fresh, light, grape juice like character. It was served well-chilled in the afternoon with seafood at Lamma Island.
